Petr Yan vs. Urijah Faber Live Stream Free UFC 245
Former four-time UFC bantamweight title challenger Urijah Faber retired from MMA after he defeated Brad Pickett by decision on Faber’s home town of Sacramento, California in December 2016. While the former WEC featherweight kingpin never won UFC gold, he did make it into the UFC Hall of Fame in July 2017.
With his gym and many outside business interests, the thought was that Faber’s retirement had a good chance of sticking, unlike many others. It didn’t. Faber returned to action in July 2019. He earned a first-round TKO win in that bout. Faber ended Ricky Simon’s eight-fight winning streak with a 46-second knockout.
On Saturday we’ll find out if that quick knockout win was a blessing or a curse for Faber as he faces Petr Yan in the first fight of the UFC 245 pay-per-view card. Yan, who is on an eight-fight winning streak, is 5-0 in the UFC, is the No. 4 ranked fighter in the official UFC bantamweight rankings. Faber comes in at the No. 12 spot.

Yan is a pressure striker. He puts a high pace on his opponents and averages 5.76 significant strikes per minute with the UFC. Yan has also defended 85 percent of his opponents’ takedown attempts. Those two factors and perhaps the fact that the 26-year-old Yan is 14 years younger than Faber, have Yan listed as the biggest favorite on the UFC 245 fight card. Yan is a whopping -500, while Faber comes in as the biggest underdog at +350.
If Faber does defeat Yan, don’t be surprised if the first thing he asks for after the victory is a title shot. As for Yan, he’s been itching for a chance to compete for UFC gold as well, so expect him to call for the same if he gets by the UFC Hall of Famer.
